Tull, William Samuel

William Samuel Tull was born September 4, 1844 in Carrollton, Carroll County, Missouri, the only child born to William Hooper Tull and Martha Ann Partlow Tull. His father died on September 8 of the same year. His mother married Dr. William Richardson Allen in Missouri on September 24, 1846. Three children were born to the Allens, William, 1847, Marion, 1847 and Martha, 1850. In 1850 the family emigrated to Oregon over the Oregon Trail. Dr. Allen died in Canemah on July 9, 1851. Martha married a third time, to William Barlow, in 1852. Three children were born to this marriage, Mary, 1853; Virginia, 1857 and Cassius Union, 1858.

William Samuel Tull married Isabella Scoville in Benton County on February 18, 1874. Three children were born to this marriage, Viva Lee, 1875; William Barlow, 1878; and Cassius Garfield, 1880. Isabella “Bell” Tull died January 31, 1885.

William married Mary Ellen Kimsey in 1891. The Tulls lived in Barlow, Oregon until William’s death in 1930. Mary Ellen died April 7, 1948.

William Samuel Tull served in Company E, 1st Oregon Cavalry 1862-1865. His step-brother, Richard L. Allen, son of Dr. Allen’s first marriage, served in the same unit. Census records list his occupation as farmer.
