Making your living on the rivers near Oregon City was a dangerous way of life in the early days of our history. Although many early steamboat captains, engineers and deckhands and others survived these dangers, many others did not.
Several of these early pioneers of the rivers were buried in Mountain View Cemetery. Others are buried in the Canemah Cemetery, as many of these river men had helped establish the small community in the mid-1800s.
