They Traveled the Oregon Trail

Many of the people buried in the Old Cemetery as well as the Masonic and I. O. O. F. sections of Mountain View Cemetery traveled to the Oregon Territory over the Oregon Trail. Single adults, parents, and children braved the unknown to make a life in a new land and helped establish Oregon City as a commercial center of the territory. Some left loved ones buried along the trail and moved ahead to start new lives, and sometimes new relationships, as they established homes in and around the city.

Come meet some of those who traveled the Oregon Trail from 1842 to 1858….

John Gill Campbell – Traveling Man and designer of the Beaver Coin. Masonic, Lot 65.

John Fleming – Pioneer Printer. Masonic, Lot 25.
